Ce soir j’ai fait quelque chose que j’ai pas fait depuis une éternité : ne faire que dessiner ♥ C’était pas prévu à la base mais bon XDD;;

Sketches of chapter 4 finally finished. Feels good to be able to focus on the comic once again !

Sketches of chapter 4 finally finished. Feels good to be able to focus on the comic once again !

Chapter 3 sketches are finally done. They took me so much time, I can’t even :/ Happily, sketches of chapter 4 and 5 are almost done, I’ve just got some corrections to do. Tomorrow I’ll be able to ink !! *o* (And I’d better ink fast, that’s for sure…)

I feel like I’m testing a new way of doing things at each chapter @__@; For chapter 3 I was embarrassed because it was the only chapter left for which I didn’t do storyboards which would also be the sketches later on… And frankly, the idea of sketching 30 pages from scratch really… un-motivates me.
So I kept the storyboard that I had made (which is way sketchier and messier than the storyboards I have made for chap 4 & 5). I scanned it, resized it. And now I’m doing the sketch in CG.
… I thought I would hate it and actually I quite like it. I’m more daring with CG. The problem is : my lines are messy, I hope I’ll manage to ink properly on that :/ (Well I got no choice anyway)
… Something tells me I still haven’t found my right method |D;

Still doing the storyboard of chapter 5. I can’t even. Finishing that tonight no matter what. (I’m already late for my phone call, sheesh! Guess it will be “correction of chapter 5 minus the final scene”… And I don’t like that :/ *will be trying to rush*)

So lately I’ve been frankly annoyed with the speed at which I’m sketching. I thought it was due to, I don’t know, spending too much time on the internet or something. So I made a test today and… no, actually, it’s just really due to my speed at which I draw, make my strokes, etc.
So I’ll be doing what I have done for the sketches of the first chapter : use a chronometer. Really, I swear, it works wonder for me. I always strive to go faster and make more and more pages with a chronometer in my hand. Profitability (la rentabilité) really can be a goal on its own sometimes. (Well it’s better when it’s not your only goal hopefully, but I know I lack motivation to do the sketches, so I’ll take this motivation any day! … and well, anyway if you know me, you’ll know I like this goal on its own anyway so…)

Before/after with the latest pic, where I turned the remaining storyboards into “sketches”. If it could work that way it would be awesome.
And I’m so proud, there was almost no corrections to be made on the storyboard this time ! :’D (Well, just one hour instead of three) My efforts are paying <3

Testing out a new way of doing my storyboards. I’ve noticed two things : 1. I really dislike the sketching step when I’ve got no time 2. I tend to rush my storyboards when I should really take more time on them.
And then I’ve noticed another thing : the sketching step is more agreeable to me when it’s just “executing” what I’ve drawn on the storyboard (which implies I’ve already searched for references, poses, etc, at the storyboard step).
So I’m trying to develop way more my storyboard… and so I hope to use it as a sketch later on. So first I do a storyboard which is total crap just to know which angles and scenes I’m going to choose (and I used to stop there, which is a bit sad since it’s rushed and Dam - who helps me on the storyboard - is supposed to judge on the final result depending on this storyboard, which isn’t representative of the final result), and then I draw it better, with references and such.
Later on I’ll just scan that and re-print it at good size so that it will be my sketch. (right now it’s an A3 format on the photo, if you were wondering)
Seems like a good plan.
… Except for the part it makes the storyboard step waaay longer and shit shit shit Dam is supposed to call me at midnight to check on my storyboard aaaah I’m so screwed ! (but so is he anyway |D)

You, my dear, is responsible for having eaten three hours of my time. Somehow I feel I’ve been particularly slow, though. (and keen on the glitter. Maybe a bit too much.)
